What is the difference between a student loan, a grant and a scholarship?

How would you go about applying for each of them

What is the difference between a student loan, a grant and a scholarship?

Student loans are like car notes, you pay it back for a loooong time at a crazy interest rate. A grant you apply for and are approved depending on your social status (normally) and you don't have to pay it back. A scholarship is based off of your academic achievements and is not paid back. Much more difficult to get a scholarship.

What is the difference between a student loan, a grant and a scholarship?

Student loans you pay back. Grants and scholarships you don't pay back.

What is the difference between a student loan, a grant and a scholarship?

Student loans=money borrow from a bank or loan company and you have to pay it back after you graduate. A grant is money you are given (usually from the goverment) you do not have to pay back. Scholarship is an award for great performance,it has to be used for college. you don't pay this back, it is free, you earned it.

What is the difference between a student loan, a grant and a scholarship?

Student loan - must be paid back

Grant - does not need to be paid back

Scholarship - does not need to be paid back. usually based on grades

Go to the financial aid office of your school to find out how to apply for each.

What is the difference between a student loan, a grant and a scholarship?

Student loans are just loans that you pay back usually at lower interest rates and lower monthly payments than regular loans. Grants are %26quot;free%26quot; money from the government if you qualify and scholarships are %26quot;free%26quot; money given out by certain foundations and organizations to qualified or deserving persons.

If you check the website of the school you wish to attend there should be a financial aid link you can click on to apply. Also, a book I found extremely helpful when I was looking into financial aid assistance was Free Money for College for Dummies. I found it at Barnes and Noble and it's one of the %26quot;For Dummies%26quot; books.

you have to pay a loan back...poor people get them

Im in default on my federal student loan which is under $5,000.00?

how do i go about trying to settle my debt i'm on a limited income and have other concerns; such as medical issues; and child support that i must pay; where can i seek assistance that will actually work with me; on a flexible timetable

Im in default on my federal student loan which is under $5,000.00?

If you are on disability you can apply for a permanent disability status and get your loans permently written off ONE time only..if not, they have deferments/repayments such as interest only, income sensitive where you pay from 2% to 50% of your incom as long as it's min. the interest, underemployment, unemployment, etc. If you are past due, they will take that amount and just add it to the balance and you start fresh...contact your lender for these things. Gl

Im in default on my federal student loan which is under $5,000.00?

A second job maybe?

Im in default on my federal student loan which is under $5,000.00?

Approach the government agency that has your account in default. Enroll in the Rehabilitation program. Its flexible on the level of payments that you can afford. Then it will immediately repair your credit.

Im in default on my federal student loan which is under $5,000.00?

You should be able to talk to the company and receive a payment arrangement that is based off income.

Im in default on my federal student loan which is under $5,000.00?

Call them. They are probably the nicest people ever to deal with. You can either halt your payments temporarily, or get on a reduced monthly payment.

Im in default on my federal student loan which is under $5,000.00?

The best thing to do is to go straight to the source. Tell them you would like to work out a payment plan, and let them know your situation. They will work with you if you approach them. By ignoring them, they will be less likely to be flexible. Contacting them first will show you are responsible and trying to handle your own debts. Just give them a call. That's the first step to getting this burden off your shoulders.

Im in default on my federal student loan which is under $5,000.00?

Contact whomever is servicing your loan. AES Graduate Loan services or Direct Loans or whomever it is, and explain your situation to them. I have also heard of a free consumer credit counseling program that is available through the state, I believe. I just suggest being open and honest -- they will be more happy to receive a little money at a time from you than to receive none at all. Plus, this will become part of your credit history record and that is never helpful.

Im in default on my federal student loan which is under $5,000.00?

Call the government agency and let them know your situation. They will be rude but make sure you tell them you are going to pay what you can. If you have to pay $5, do it.

Only so much of your paycheck can be garnished and child support is probably taking up that amount.

%26quot;What about non-tax debts owed Federal Agencies?

The Debt Collection Improvement Act authorizes federal agencies or collection agencies under contract with them to garnish up to 15% of disposable earnings to repay defaulted debts owed the U.S. government. The Higher Education Act authorizes the Department of Education's guaranty agencies to garnish up to 10% of disposable earnings to repay defaulted federal student loans. Such withholding is also subject to the provisions of the federal wage garnishment law, but not state garnishment laws. Unless the total of all garnishments exceeds 25% of disposable earnings, questions regarding such garnishments should be referred to the agency initiating the withholding action.%26quot;

What is the best way to pay for student loan?

Make sure you consolidate and try to do it fast cause the rates are going up soon. Watch taking out another loan to pay off, compare interest rates but get a payment you can afford. If you default on a student loan, the government can garnish your wages, take tax returns and all professional licenses are subject to being revoked. Good luck!!!

month to month auto pay out of a checking or savings account. Sallie Mae gives you a .25 point less on your interest rate when you autopay...and the interest is also tax deductible.

Where can i get a student loan?

Student loans are available by filling out your FAFSA form. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov. This is the official FAFSA website. Be careful of other sites that sound like this one. You will need some documents to get started: soc. sec #, last year's tax return, if you are a minor your parents info, etc. The website tells you what you will need and walks you through the application. Also, you can fill out the application anytime. However, renew your application in January for the best return of %26quot;extra money%26quot; but definitely by May 1st. I received about $1000-1200 in extra checks because I followed this simple rule.

It takes some time to fill out but it saves the info so it is much quicker next year. It will ask for schools you want to attend because it will send this info to them so they can figure out what you qualify for. You can find this info in any brochures that the college sends you or by searching for it on the FAFSA website.

NOTE: It is important for you to fill out the FAFSA form even if you think you make to much money to qualify for that. All other loans require that you be rejected (or not) by FAFSA first. Basically, the others are making FAFSA do all the dirty work of gathering the info. Make sure the information is as accurate as possible.

There are other types of loans out there as well and don't forget to apply for scholarships. These are helpful even if you get all the money you think you want. (Borrow less if that is the case.)

Where can i get a student loan?

Visit the financial aid office of the college you are attending.

I get the next part of my student loan in January but I need to borrow say 鎷?00 now to pay it back t

What are my chances? Im overdrawn on my account so my bank statements look like crap haha. Cheers

I get the next part of my student loan in January but I need to borrow say 鎷?00 now to pay it back then.?

Check with your university - they may have personal student loans you could get until your check comes in January. My university had those.

I get the next part of my student loan in January but I need to borrow say 鎷?00 now to pay it back then.?

Stupid, what are you.. You did not ought to have an account you can overdraw on.. My granson is at UNI.. His first responsibility is his rent each month...His tuition fees are paid automatically. He has to live on about 鎷?0 a week for food and social activities. You must do the same... Borrow from family if you can... Alter your bank account to a basic one and live a frugal life... Show you are responsible... Have a bit of pride in yourself....

I get the next part of my student loan in January but I need to borrow say 鎷?00 now to pay it back then.?

Borrow fron your friend - a friend in need is a friend indeed

I get the next part of my student loan in January but I need to borrow say 鎷?00 now to pay it back then.?

I really don't know if are serious with your problem...Dell's replies has given you a very rightful Fatherly advise...and your comment seems not sticking into your mind...the solution is already there ...and he told you to live a frugal life but still you're seem too easy with your life...for you can still afford to show hahaha...what does it mean? His good example is the BEST YOU CAN DO. WHY YOU CAN'T HAVE THE COURAGE TO APPROACH ANY POSSIBLE RELATIVES TO HELP YOU TO MAKE UP FOR YOUR OWN INADEQUACY? IS IT BECAUSE THIS IS NOT THE FIRST NOR THE 2nd TIME YOU HAVE NOT MADE GOOD IN YOUR FINANCING? ....THE NEXT TIME IS TAKE THE LESSONS IN LIFE SQUARELY AND DON'T ALLOW YOUR NON-SERIOUSNESS IN YOUR SEEKING FOR BETTER FUTURE JUST BE TAKEN FOR GRANTED....MUST PLAN YOUR LIFE...BUDGET YOUR FINANCIAL CAPABILITY...LEARN TO STAND ON YOUR OWN TWO FEET...YOU'RE OLD ENOUGH TO BE INDEPENDENT...MUST YOU REMEMBER...YOU ARE A MAN....YOU SHALL MAKE YOUR OWN FUTURE....OR BE A %26quot;palaboy sa lansangan%26quot; (search the meaning of that Filipino phrase, and remember that phrase the rests of your life) in the near future and blame the government or your own parents....WRONG! I don't even want you to blame yourself...but choose to be good...and learn NOW your obvious lessons in life...Are you really GIVING IMPORTANCE TO YOUR STUDIES.....???

If you are really asking the world for some options, accept that you are surrendered in your own option to do...meaning you must learn to be serious accepting their advise...may it be right or wrong to you...because you seek for them. So if you feel you're too good for yourself...don't open up yourself for advise....for you are already very good...but the reality you are asking seems you are not....are you?.

May be some of your relatives don't feel entrusting you with good money...even if your reasons is for studies...most probably they were already electrucuted by your alibis....is this true....?

Pardon me if may assumption is not totally right but highly probable had happened.....take the lessons of life...you caused it....nobody did it for you...gud bye!

What does being conditiionally approved for a student loan mean?

There may be a catch.

What does being conditiionally approved for a student loan mean?

It means that there are strings attached, and if these conditions are not met by a certain time, the loan is revoked, or called in for repayment.

What does being conditiionally approved for a student loan mean?

it means there are conditions that must be met. maybe they haven't pulled your credit yet and you must qualify by having a certain score or higher, basically you don't really have the loan yet.

What does being conditiionally approved for a student loan mean?

its weird you should be conditionally approved-- is this a regular stafford loan? generally those loans are automatic. I assume its a third party lender or another loan program outside of the government ones-- in any case conditionally approved could mean approved based on your credit rating-- or your attendance at classes to qualify.

I need to take out a private student loan and i have the choice between Prime and LIBOR. What should

LIBOR and Prime typically move together, so your decision shouldn't be focused so much on the index but rather on important points like:

* Origination fees and annual fees

* The index (LIBOR/Prime) + margin -- if you assume LIBOR and Prime will move together, you want to look at the absolute coupon rate you will be paying today for your different loan options. Be sure to also look at the APR if there are associated fees...coupon rate can be deceptive if your loan options have different fee structures.

* Depending on the type of loan you'll be taking, if you or your parents own a home, you should also look into Home Equity loans as an alternative.

Good luck!

Plenty of good advice here.

I have to take out a private student loan. I know they suck, but I don't have a choice. Do you have any advice

You already know that private loans suck so you're way ahead of the game. You already know this but it's worth repeating: only take as much as you need in private student loans.

Having said that, the best advice I have is for you to shop around for the best deals.

Here are some sites I'd recommend:

http://salliemae.com - large student lender

http://financialaid.com - federal and private loans

http://mytuition.com - federal and private loans

You can also contact Wells Fargo and see what they offer, I've heard that they're one of the major student lenders out there.

Good luck!

Go to daveramsey.com and see what he says about it. He talks of some very low interest rates from the government, but I don't recall the name of the loan.

A Bad Credit Student Loan can be sought through many different avenues. It all depends on your personal credit rating. The biggest challenge is finding one that offers the lowest interest rate. There are various routes to explore when seeking out a bad credit student loan and I would suggest that your first port of call would be the school for which you are about to attend. You will need to fill out a FAFSA form in order to initially apply for a federal loan. Perkins loans are combined school and government funds. A combination loan may be another alternative way of acquiring a bad credit student loan. This type of student loan enables you to consolidate%26lt;!--any existing loans that you have whilst applying for a new tuition loan. The only drawback to this type of loan is that you may need someone to co-sign.Another way to get a bad credit student loan is to get a co-signer. Maybe a family member with good credit would help. This way you could get loans with more attractive interest rates and terms, in spite of your bad credit. You may find the student loan here,

http://badcredits.awardspace.com/student...

Finally, if all else fails you will need to contact banks and financial institutions. They will more than likely be happy to lend you the money, but it will be on a higher interest rate than usual. When you have bad credit the banks will check out your personal credit score first and then offer terms based on the credit rating assessment. Take heart, even if your bad credit student loan is set at a high interest rate, numerous--%26gt;student loans defer your payment until you have finished college. This in turn will allow you time to improve your credit rating and when you leave college you could then look into consolidating your bad credit student loan at a better interest rate. This will mean your monthly payments will be at a lower level and therefore more affordable.

I have to take out a private student loan. I know they suck, but I don't have a choice. Do you have any advice

Private student loans should be considered only after you have exhausted all federal loans, scholarships, grants, etc. that are available to you.

Because they are not guaranteed by the gov, private loans are typically credit-based. This means they will run a credit report, and then your interest rate will be based on your credit history. If yours is not great, having a cosigner with good credit can help bring down the rate. Even with all this, the interest rate is still typically better than with other lines of credit.

Stick with a large, reputable firm. Read the information carefully so you can accurately compare offers. As always, borrow only what you absolutely need, as it will have to be payed back.

To pay or to invest? my student loan is @ 7 % and I just received enough money to pay it all off!?

should I invest the money instead?

To pay or to invest? my student loan is @ 7 % and I just received enough money to pay it all off!?

Paying off a 7% loan is a guarenteed 7% return. Right now you can't get that anywhere else. Yes the markets return an average of 10-11% per year, but that's not guarenteed.

Pay off the loan, but make a promise to yourself that you will put into investments what the monthly payment would have been for the loan. That way you get the 7% savings while still building up an investment portfolio.

To pay or to invest? my student loan is @ 7 % and I just received enough money to pay it all off!?

Pay it off, that will save you a huge amount of money in the long run on interest. Then if you want you can always take the money you were paying towards the student loan and invest it.

To pay or to invest? my student loan is @ 7 % and I just received enough money to pay it all off!?

well i would pay it all off i mean when you needed money they lend it to you it would only be nice to return the favor however u know those loan companys just want your money however i would still return unless you tell me what ur gonna invest in

To pay or to invest? my student loan is @ 7 % and I just received enough money to pay it all off!?

kill it off.

To pay or to invest? my student loan is @ 7 % and I just received enough money to pay it all off!?

I would pay it all off. No debt is better then any debt, especially if decide to make a large purchase. Its better all the way around.

To pay or to invest? my student loan is @ 7 % and I just received enough money to pay it all off!?

Pay it off. Doubtful that you'll find an investment that would pay a high enough percentage to compensate for the 7% you're currently paying on your loan. Plus you'll be in a better position financially should any unforeseen emergency arise.

To pay or to invest? my student loan is @ 7 % and I just received enough money to pay it all off!?

Don't listen to anybody who has answered in front of me. 7% is not THAT bad. If you find some good stocks or mutual funds, you can get at least 10% a year, especially now since the market has come down a significant amount lately.

Depending on your age, income, net worth, debt/equity ratio, # of dependents, expenses and overall risk tolerance, you should either pay a little, lot, or all of it off. Make sure to also consider market conditions when deciding how much to pay off and how much to invest.

If you need help in deciding how much to pay off, ask someone with investing experience or seek a financial advisor. Most importantly, KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING WITH YOUR MONEY BEFORE YOU DO IT.

To pay or to invest? my student loan is @ 7 % and I just received enough money to pay it all off!?

ALWAYS pay yourself first.

Take 10% - 20% off the top and put it into a high interest savings or money market fund of some kind.

Use the rest to pay off the student loan. Even if you have to make a few payments thereafter - you are still in good shape.

To pay or to invest? my student loan is @ 7 % and I just received enough money to pay it all off!?

Pay off. Any money you may earn in investing it will most likely go towards the extra interest your building up on your loan anyway.

To pay or to invest? my student loan is @ 7 % and I just received enough money to pay it all off!?

I suggest you to invest in the Stock Market with the help of a Portfolio Manager with over a decade of experience like myself.

Any decent Mutual Fund will return at least 14%

Would a student who has parents that recently filed for bankruptcy be able to get a student loan?

Yes. A student loan is in the students name and there is no credit check. If a PLUS loan is needed and the parents are denied for it you the student would qualify for additional student loans (I had this happen to me when my mom filed for bankrupsty).

Would a student who has parents that recently filed for bankruptcy be able to get a student loan?

doubtful. That is one of the things they look for. Try a scholarship.

Would a student who has parents that recently filed for bankruptcy be able to get a student loan?

Yes. Your parents filed. The loan would be in your name and would have nothing to do with your parents' financial history.

Would a student who has parents that recently filed for bankruptcy be able to get a student loan?

u can ask the FA office about %26quot;special circumstances%26quot;.. since ur original aid package included both ur parents income.. they may now refigure it and only count the aid of whichever parent gives you more than 50% of their support.. this will up ur aid.. Try for a grant first.. loans are bad ideas unless u have to..

Aside from grants and Government loan can my son apply for additional student loan without any co-si

Ususally he's going to need a co-signer if he's got limited credit history. Even if they do approve him for alternative student loans, they'll stick the interest very high because he's young.

Aside from grants and Government loan can my son apply for additional student loan without any co-signer?

No he would need your co-sign as a father

Aside from grants and Government loan can my son apply for additional student loan without any co-signer?

Absolutly!

Aside from grants and Government loan can my son apply for additional student loan without any co-signer?

if he has verifyable employment and over 18 he can apply for a loan as independant student living on his own (even if he lives at home)

Aside from grants and Government loan can my son apply for additional student loan without any co-signer?

If his credit history is limited, any private student loan he would apply for would require a cosigner. Best go to a cheaper school where the max amounts for federal loans cover all the cost.

Aside from grants and Government loan can my son apply for additional student loan without any co-signer?

Yes, he can. Try to open a secured credit card for him. Maybe he can use it to pay for gas and you can pay it in full every month. He could also try applying as a student for a store card, like Target or Express just to build some credit.

Aside from grants and Government loan can my son apply for additional student loan without any co-signer?

Government loans are based on need. Private loans, the ones you are speaking of, are available based on credit. If your son has credit (and sometimes if he doesn't, as they are called student loans for a reason), he would be able to. They may ask for a cosigner if he has no or bad credit.

Aside from grants and Government loan can my son apply for additional student loan without any co-signer?

Yes he can. I had many students students get it done. The best places to go and get it done would be salliemae.com or ask if the university he will be attending has any working relationship with a lender and go thru the lender they have a working relationship with because he will get preferential treatment

Does anyone know where I can consolidate private and student loans together or at least lower my pri

Right now the interest rate is toooo high and Sallie Mae won't consolidate it because I didn't finsh the class.

Does anyone know where I can consolidate private and student loans together or at least lower my private loan?

I was going to tell you Sallie Mae is the best in my opinion. If they won't do it I'm not sure who will. I have never heard of them not consolidating a loan because you didn't finish the class. I mean if you failed the class they would still consolidate your loans. Maybe your school can help by changing the status of that class. Good luck. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Does anyone know where I can consolidate private and student loans together or at least lower my private loan?

What's the point? You'll still owe the same amount of money.

Does anyone know where I can consolidate private and student loans together or at least lower my private loan?

I consolidated my student loans using National direct student loans. Use this link and it should give you the info you need or at least point you in the right direction.

https://www.dlssonline.com/borrower/Borr...

Does anyone know where I can consolidate private and student loans together or at least lower my private loan?

try Citibank.

i think the site is www.studentloan.com. this is where i consolidated my student loans. i believe they offer options to consolidate your loans.

additionally, most banks will offer debt consolidation loans. the interest rate will be higher than a standard loan, and collateral may be required, so this may not work out.

Does anyone know where I can consolidate private and student loans together or at least lower my private loan?

I am quite shocked that they would not consolidate your Student Loans because you didn't finish the class. Where they talking about your Private Student Loans or your Federal Student Loans?

I am also concerned that you would be considering combining your Federal Student Loans and your Private Student Loans. Consolidating your Private Student Loans is a good idea, but I would advise against combining Federal and Private. The reason is if you combine your Federal Student Loans and your Private Student Loans together you would lose all your Federal Benefits on your Federal Student Loans. Under the FFELP Consolidation Loan Program you are unable to combine your Federal Student Loans with your Private Student Loans; the Federal Government will not allow this to happen.

If you are interested in consolidating your Private Student Loans, which I assume you are, it would be in your best interest to wait until after July 1st of this year when programs are expected to improve when dealing with Private Loan Consolidation. However, I would advise that you consolidate your Federal Student Loans before July 1st as economic indicators are pointing toward an interest rate increase on Federal Student Loans. For more information on Private vs. Federal Student Loan Consolidation as well as what your Federal Benefits are please see the link below.

A question about the Scottish and Student Loan's.....?

....why do people in England pay to go to Uni when people in Scotland go for free?

And why do Scottish MP's get to vote on this issue? Does this mean they voted for English people to pay and Scottish people not to? Huh figures!

A question about the Scottish and Student Loan's.....?

This came up in Question Time not that long ago, and one of the Labour Panellists, I believe was Ed Miliband, simply replied, that the English agenda on spending on education was to add more support for pre school, primary school, and high school education, and not to give as much support to English unis. What was interesting is that Most, if not all the people that were on that panel where not in favour of Free uni education. Most of the younger generation do, as well as their parents. Interesting thought - Labour are always saying after 10 years in power they must put more effort in to listening to the public... looks like more talk and not enough action to me.

Scotland get a budget of 鎷?0 billion each year, and it is up to Scootish MSPs how that money is spent.

Scotland has its own Devolved Parliament and the smart MSPs have passed the Bill for the Scottish education system for no tuition fees, and more funds to support students. Another Bill looks likely to get passed by the SNP Executive to distance itself even more from the English uni Gov't agenda, by scrapping the paying back of Student Loans.

The British Tory Party is against free Uni fees, the Labour Party still is, the only thing they have done is to give a Little additional funds for grants for English students - really not enough in my opinion. The only party (I Think) that would do anything about this injustice is the Lib Dems.

You are right about an English Devolved Parliament, or at the very least the blocking of Scottish, Welsh, and N. Irish MPs being able to vote on a decision that will effect only England.

Why should a MP from Blackburn, Scotland be able to vote on a matter that would effect the people of Blackburn, England?

A question about the Scottish and Student Loan's.....?

Revenge for hitting us with Poll tax and the smoking ban before you!

A question about the Scottish and Student Loan's.....?

Exactly, set us free and you can fight your own fecking war !

A question about the Scottish and Student Loan's.....?

No Scotland has its own rule on its Education but when it comes to world affairs its down to make the decision.

Ps the Royal Bank of chip shops sponsor unis in Scotland.lol

A question about the Scottish and Student Loan's.....?

1) The English have voted on scottish issues (without a single mp there ) for 60 years.

2)This lead to devolution.

3) The Scottish have a budget which they spend how they like. This differs from how the english spend theirs...but that is democracy. They choose how they work within their budget.

4)Call for a English parliment. This won't happen though, because this is essentially handing Scotland and Wales independence and..England wants to bury and build all sorts of radioactive crap all over these countries in the next few years.

A question about the Scottish and Student Loan's.....?

sounds like RACISM coming from you . if you check your FACTS ENGULUND voted on Scottish matters without our say up till 1997; did we hear the english protest about our second class treatment ?. ill yell you they did not. you lot only gave a damn when crap like the poll tax was thrust upon you years after Scotland was burdened with it.

SO IN SHORT YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW

as for our uni being free that is just a case of the SE spending it's money in a different manner to england. if you want to ***** about it moan to your MP'S till it is changed and stop blaming Scotland for your govmnt fookin you around.

A question about the Scottish and Student Loan's.....?

The Scottish mp's voted for free students fees to go to university but Westminster has voted for England students to pay to go to university the labour spin doctors would of ordered the mp's from Scotland and wales to vote the student fees in and why does these mp's from Scotland and wales have a vote at Westminster without them labour would never win a vote they would become the minority the Tory's would love it if Scotland and wales mp's could not vote they would be the major party in Westminster and allways will be

A question about the Scottish and Student Loan's.....?

Because most of the politicians in England do not wish for education to be free. In Scotland they do. It's as simple as that really. :-)

A question about the Scottish and Student Loan's.....?

Yawn....the same question has been asked by the same sort of Trolls millions of times before. It was funny at first, but now is simply tiresome.

Ol' Blue Eyes:

Yeah, you've got a Scot on the back of your bank note, and do you want to know why? It's because The Bank of England was founded by a Scot. Get over it. you are simply a sad racist.

Get an on-line bank account and keep money you don't want to spend there. Then if you want to do some wreckless spending you need to wait a day or two to have the $ deposited into your regular bank account. Emmigrant bank is pretty good and they have a 5% interest rate.

Where can my husband find a good student loan for truck driving education?

He is interested in a 4 week course to become a CDL driver

Where can my husband find a good student loan for truck driving education?

I happen to know this because I do this for a living. You need to find out who your Local workforce investment board is. (Look on line for yours.) There is a grant called the Workforce Investment Grant or Workforce Investment Act. This is money for someone who wants to go into a labor market and demand employment. This is a grant so you don't have to pay it back.

Where can my husband find a good student loan for truck driving education?

I know Sallie Mae has a loan program for continuing education students. My guess would be other lenders would have these as well. Maybe a search for educational loans would offer some additional options? Make sure you check out all the loan terms and find out which one will offer the best terms (interest rate, fees, repayment terms).

Which one first: application for college or student loan?

You should fill out the application first. Then I would go to the financial aid office before I applied for a student loan. They know of 'free money'. This would be FAFSA- government grant, as well as scholarships that are offered.

Which one first: application for college or student loan?

first off you should apply to the schools that you desire to go to and follow their own applications deadlines. different schools have different deadlines. than when your parents recieve their tax return you should fill out the fafsa (free application for financial aid) when you fill this form out it will ask you if you are interested in loans. but be sure to be aware of application deadlines. because from personal experience... missing them can hurt your chances and eligibilty for aid and loans!

Which one first: application for college or student loan?

application probably. each college has a different cost. you do not want to take out too big of a loan or too little of a loan.

Is there a minimal ammount that is needed when applying for a student loan?

I'm going back to school and I already have a student loan that I am paying off right now. I am just wondering if anyone know if you can add on tuition and if so, is there a minimum?

Is there a minimal ammount that is needed when applying for a student loan?

Yes, you can borrow more student loan as you are paying off another loan. I know because I did the same thing. I think you can borrow any amount you want but just call your financial aid office for the specifics.

Best wishes.

How do i find out student loan balance?

Your student loan was probably from the US Department of Education, you can find the balance in a few ways. Try contacting the Direct Loan Services department at 1-800-848-0983

Or by mail

U.S. Department of Education

Direct Loan Servicing Center

P.O. Box 5609

Greenville, TX 75403-5609

Or you can also go to http://www.nslds.ed.gov/

But you will need the you pin number which was provided to you when you applied for your loan or grant or finanacial aid help. I hope this helps out.

I have a loan myself and happen to work on a College Campus.

How do i find out student loan balance?

Contact the bank that holds the loan. Should have an online login to keep track of it.

Where can I pay off my student loan online? Or do I have to mail it in?

If it's a federal loan, you can go to the US Dept. of Education website and follow the links to pay on-line. If you don't already have a pin number though, you'll have to apply for one.

Where can I pay off my student loan online? Or do I have to mail it in?

Call the company that holds the loan. They should have a toll-free number. If you can arrange to have the money taken automatically from your account, you can lower your payments and fees. Then you don't have to worry about stamps, the postal service, etc.

Do I need to repay my student loan 100%?

Yeah, actually more like 150% cause youre gonna be paying ALOT of interest. (Fortunatly they dont chrage interest on them til after you graduate)

Do I need to repay my student loan 100%?

of course you do

Do I need to repay my student loan 100%?

nah... leave the country and you don't have to pay squat.

Do I need to repay my student loan 100%?

No, only pay 43% and see what happens...

Do I need to repay my student loan 100%?

I didn't :)

Do I need to repay my student loan 100%?

Yes. Defaulting on your student loan will mar your credit for the rest of your life. Good luck on trying to buy a home or car at a good interest rate.

Do I need to repay my student loan 100%?

I believe that they will hire collection agencies to go after you if you don't. I went to a job fair and a collection agency said that that was what they do.

I heard OJ moved to Florida and bought a mansion there because the law there protects a home of any size from being seized from lawsuits, etc. I may have to move there myself. Student loans can't go thru bankrupcy and sometimes there is no money there to pay them.

Do I need to repay my student loan 100%?

that would be the responsible thing to do. besides now that you are a graduate you should have plenty of cash thanks to the sweet job your diploma got you.

Do I need to repay my student loan 100%?

No, you probably have to repay it about 120%.

There's interest, ya know.

Do I need to repay my student loan 100%?

Yes, you do need to pay your loans in full. Your loans are listed in your credit report. If you dont pay back your loans it will effect your credit score. In some extreme cases, they can even garnish your check. If you ever have problems in repaying your loans always call your lender and tell them your situation. They grant deferments or payment options.

Can i get sue for my student loan.?

If you have no deferment in place and obviously are not paying, you can receive a summons to appear in court with the possibiliy of wage garnishment. you have several options 1. fill out for a temporary hardship(deferment) which can give you up to a year not to pay, in these case your interest will be capitalized or 2. contact them and let them know your current payments are too high and that you would like to continue paying and if their is a possibility in lower monthly payments. BE CAREFUL THOUGH, don't let them tell you what you need to pay, tell them what you CAN pay.

Who do I contact about my student loan. I owe them money?

Wow, it really depends on who you took out the loan from. You need to contact them. If you don't know or can't find out who gave you the loan, you're out of luck, although I am pretty sure they will come looking for you too to get back their money.

Who do I contact about my student loan. I owe them money?

Federal loan? Most likely Sallie Mae. She can be reached at:

How do i get a student loan without credit and without my parents?

im 21 and they wont help me.

am i screwed?

How do i get a student loan without credit and without my parents?

You need to make an appointment with the financial aid office at the college you're planning to attend. Tell them you want to attend and can't get financial backing from your parents. They should help you find options.

The bad news, though, is that until you turn 25, your parents' income is still considered when figuring your financial aid. Just be prepared to fill out lots of scholarship applications and spend lots of time at that financial aid office.

Good luck!

How do i get a student loan without credit and without my parents?

you should be able to get student loans with no credit history, unfourtunattly, you have to give info on your parents income until you are 23 (i think, but I know it is past 21) because the government assumes they will help you, so if your parents make lots of money they assume you don't need fincial aid.

Fill out the FAFSA and submit it (you can do this online) and see what they offer you. Your credit history should not be a factor in student loans,

How do i get a student loan without credit and without my parents?

If you happen to be married or have children you don't need to report your parents' income. Otherwise, yes, you'll need their tax return info until you turn 23.

How do i get my student loan from default to deferement so i can go back to college?

single mom.

How do i get my student loan from default to deferement so i can go back to college?

When you are enrolled again, you can apply for deferment through the loan company. If they have a Web site, it should be very easy to find information on how to go about doing this. If not, try the FAFSA site.

How do i get my student loan from default to deferement so i can go back to college?

When I had this problem I called the number on the coupons I sent in with my payments, and they deferred it. This was a few years ago however, so I'm not sure if you have coupons or not.

How do i get my student loan from default to deferement so i can go back to college?

Call your school loan company and explain your desire to return to school. You should be granted a deferrment for the period that you are re-enrolled in college classes (whether the deferrment is based on full-time/part-time status would also be a good question to ask)

Will faking my death cancel my student loan?

The only three constants in life are death, taxes and having to pay back your student loans. One doesn't necessarily negate the other.

Although.... if you really do die, the good news is you don't have to pay your student loan back, but you will still have to pay taxes that year. If you fake your death, you will still have to pay taxes and your student loan - and you will still die.

Where's the fun in that?

As with any drastic illegal action, you must first consider the risk, the hassle, and the benefit. How much are your loans? Is it worth the risk and hassle of assuming a new identity?

It will get you arrested for fraud.

Will faking my death cancel my student loan?

Hard to pay when you're in Jail.

That's where you are headed.

Will faking my death cancel my student loan?

Why fake your death. Stop it! it is all a **** before God. Why did you get the loan for? You must be educated. Just believe God for a job and start paying your debt faithfully without having to hide. Even if you are still not in a job, tell the truth to the authorities where you are to make the payments and when due time comes you will pay. You can't be jailed for telling the truth or even being without the capacity to pay. Be yourself. Why should you avoid the fact that you are in debt and live without peace of mind? You must pay what belongs to others. DON'T FAKE DEATH, DEATH MUST COME TO YOU ONE TIME. NOT NOW, PAY YOUR DEBTS IF YOU CAN RIGHT AWAY IF NOT LATER. Good luck.

Will faking my death cancel my student loan?

no they will get the money from your family

Will faking my death cancel my student loan?

If they believe you are dead. When they find out you are alive though, you may have to pay your student loan from prison.

I know that debt can be a burden, but talk to your lender if you are having issues. It is the safest and most legal thing to do. If you can't find resolution and are really having payment issues, try a debt counseling company. They can be very helpful.

Will faking my death cancel my student loan?

Be responsible. Get a job and pay the bill.Trying to fake your death will only cost you more money when you are arrested for fraud.

Will faking my death cancel my student loan?

Good luck with the plan. It wont work. However, if you were to really die, your stafford loans are canceled. They do not go after your family. The loans are only in YOUR name, no one else.

Alternative loans are another matter, especially if you have a cosigner.

Are there law firms that handle student loan repayment negotiations?

Call your local Bar Association (attorney's). Most bar associations have a program that allows you to get a referral for the type of problem you are facing at a flat fee, one hour consultation. There is no other obligation.

For example, in Chicago, IL the Chicago Bar Association has this type of program. That's how I found out what type of attorney I needed and the great attorney I ended up with.

Are there law firms that handle student loan repayment negotiations?

Yes, the firm of Dewie Cheatya %26amp; Howe

Is it worted to payoff the student loan at 8.5 persent with credit card at 3.99%.?

If it is a %26quot;ballance transfer%26quot; offer, and the 3.99% is FIXED until you pay it off, they yes...

BUT

DO NOT EVER PAY LATE. If you make even 1 late payment, that rate could go up to 30%. The minute that bill is printed, you need to pay it.

Is it worted to payoff the student loan at 8.5 persent with credit card at 3.99%.?

That's almost certainly an introductory rate and may not apply to cash advances which is how you'd actually pay the bill. I believe that credit cards are only valuable when you don't pay interest, so I vote no.

Is it worted to payoff the student loan at 8.5 persent with credit card at 3.99%.?

Well, there are a couple of things to consider here. First, you have to consider that one may be tax deductible while the other may not (you should check with a tax professional on this). Second, you need to know the terms (duration of repayment). All things equal, paying off the loan at 8.5% in one year would cost lest gross interest than paying off the loan in 3 years at 3.99%.

Also, cashflow should be considered. Unfortunately, we live our lives based on monthly income/expenses. You should also consider this when making decisions of this type. While it may be a better overall financial decision to choose the option that charges the lease interest over the period of the loan, it may not be feasible. For instance, if choosing that option meant that you had no expendible monthly cash, it may not be a good option for you. If some type of emergency came up, like needing a new car, you may not be able to accommodate that. If your debt to income ratio is too high, you either may not be able to qualify for the loan or would pay a very high interest rate to obtain one. This could result in paying much more interest on the car than you are saving with the other loan.

Is it worted to payoff the student loan at 8.5 persent with credit card at 3.99%.?

Something I haven't seen mentioned yet: Many student loans have to have student -friendly provisions for repayment, deferral of payments if you lose your job, and similar conditions that limit their ability to penalize student borrowers when bad things happen.

Also, many loans are affiliated with a college. These lenders are generally more open to having an actual discussion with a student alumni borrower who's got a cash flow problem. That's because they need to keep the college happy otherwise the college will take them off their preferred list. Colleges get unhappy with lenders who are nasty to their alumni, because they hope that someday, after you've paid off your loan, you'll remember them fondly and donate.

Credit card companies don't have any such restrictions and will generally act to extract as much money from you as they can.

So, be honest with yourself, and if you have any doubt at all about your ability to pay off the money transferred in the time you have, then you should probably stay where you are.

Some other factors to consider:

(1) Is there any fee to transfer the balance to the credit card? Many credit card companies now charge a 2-3% fee for a balance transfer.

(2) Is there a fee or different rate that applies to balances from using a convenience check to pay the student loan? Read the fine print if you're planning to use the convenience check. Many credit card companies advertise one teaser rate for purchases made using the new card, but have totally different rates for other things.

(3) Is there a better rate out there? If you qualify for a 3.99% rate, you might qualify for a better rate with a different credit card company. (But make sure you look at points (1) and (2) for that credit card too!)

Does anyone know where to get a student loan with bad credit?

I do not have a cosigner either.

Does anyone know where to get a student loan with bad credit?

Just fill out a FAFSA(Free Application for Federal Student Aid). It will show you what your qualified for. There are many companies out there to borrow from.

Does anyone know where to get a student loan with bad credit?

Get one from the federal government. Fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov and apply for federal student aid. The department of education will issue you a loan through your school. You may also qualify for state and federal grants.

Does anyone know where to get a student loan with bad credit?

Talk to the financial aid office at your school. They would be the best place to go for help. Not all student loans depend on good credit or a cosigner.

Maybe you can try below website to get the information you need. It's about student loans articles for your second opinion.

Does anyone know where to get a student loan with bad credit?

Students who are looking for a bad credit student loan should pick three schools they are most interested in, talk to the admissions office, and ask what is needed to apply in their school.A bad credit student loan is payable only after the student has completed his or her education, and has started earning a certain minimum amount.

http://badcredits.awardspace.com/student...

Since April 2005, the minimum amount that the candidate of the bad credit student loan is required to earn has also increased. Bad credit student loans are available as both secured and unsecured loans, depending on whether you are a homeowner or not. The rate of interest to be paid on unsecured bad credit student loans is higher than that on secured bad credit student loans. This is because the secured bad credit student loans are backed by your home as a security.

Can my graduate school limit the amount of my federal student loan?

Hi.

I was approved my full amount by my federal student loan people and I talked to my financial aid guy and they told me that I wouldn't be allowed to get the max because the loan people wouldn't let me.

Well I found out that the loan people WILL but the school decides if I can get the amount I want. They decide if I need money or not.

Can they do that? They have no right to tell me what I need and don't need. I pulled enough money out for graduate school and now I'm being shorted because they think I have a money tree in my back yard.

Is there any way I can get the school to give me my full amount. I need that money for school and living expenses like it was taken out for.

Can my graduate school limit the amount of my federal student loan?

Technically they can limit the amount of loans you receive but it's really by saying it'll cost less to go there if that makes sense. You see to get federal and state loans you can't get much more than the %26quot;cost of attendance%26quot; which includes estimated living expenses, tuition, fees, books, supplies ect ect. So if they wanted to limit your loans they could always say it won't cost as much as it should.

I'm not sure why they would do that but that is why it's important to talk to your Financial Aid Officer!

Can my graduate school limit the amount of my federal student loan?

They can, they did it to me last year. Give them a call and explain their situation, and if there is nothing they can do, I'd just take out the difference in private loans.

I want to take out a student loan for a large amount, which one is good?

First off have you filled out your FAFSA form yet? Are you interested in credit based loans or need based loans?

Federal Student Loans, like the Federal Perkins Loan and Federal Stafford Loan, are need based loans not credit based loans. This means that instead of pulling your credit, you fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and this determines the maximum amount you are eligible for.

There are also Private Student Loan options, which are credit based loans, but these carry with them a higher interest rate most times and do not have the same benefits as Federal Student Loans. For more information on Federal Student Loans please visit the source below.

Federal Student Loans hold some of the lowest interest rates when it comes to Student Loans. They also come with a number of Federal Benefits, some of which include: Unlimited in school Deferment, Federal Subsidies on certain loans, and Deferment and Forbearance options once you graduate from school.

I want to take out a student loan for a large amount, which one is good?

American Education Services (AES)

When you are applying for a student loan do your parents have to sign it?

Federal student loans (Stafford and Perkins loans) are loans in the student's name only. however, you need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form in order to apply for both. You need to include some of your parent's personal information on this form, however, it does not obligate them in any way to pay for your education or to borrow loans. You will automatically qualify for a Stafford loan when you file your FAFSA form.

Other, private, student loans often require a coborrower if you have little or no credit history, or if you have bad credit. In general, no, your student's don't HAVE to cosign, but you may need someone to cosign for you if you have never borrowed before, whether it be a parent, other relative, or friend.

Can you take out a student loan for something besides school like a car?

Let's see - %26quot;Student Loan%26quot; - I think that implies that the money is to be used for education. A car does not qualify for %26quot;education%26quot;. So I would say NO.

Can you take out a student loan for something besides school like a car?

You're not supposed to tell them that. It can be for transportation like bus fees, or gas, not to purchase a vehicle.

Can you take out a student loan for something besides school like a car?

NO . visit daveramsey.com b4 u end up a slave to debt with that thinking.

Can you take out a student loan for something besides school like a car?

Absolutely not. Those loans are solely for education - you blow it on a car and you'll likely go to jail! They really do clamp down hard on such fraud!

Can you take out a student loan for something besides school like a car?

You definitely can. You probably shouldn't though. Unless you really need a car to get to and from school (if you are commuter). Otherwise its not worth wrapping that debt into your student debt. Student Loan terms are typically 10 to 20 years. Do you really want to be paying for the car you had in college when you are 30 to 40 years old.

Can you take out a student loan for something besides school like a car?

Hi,

You can do it discreetly. Checkout http://www.onlineloanhelp.info for useful info and tips on obtaining a student loan.

Can you take out a student loan for something besides school like a car?

It depends on who's making the loan. If the federal government makes the loan (FAFSA) and you don't need it, take it anyway. They will send the money directly to your school and the school will issue you a refund check for the amount of tuition you overpaid. Then you can take this amount and go buy the car.

How do I know this will work? I did it myself, personally.

If you are going to visit a bank and ask them for a student loan in additional to whatever governmental aid you are getting, they won't make you the loan.

Where can i get a student loan in my name without a cosigner and w/o financial need?

Try Citibank http://www.studentloan.com/ I did not have a cosigner, but not sure when it comes to without financial need

From where can somewhere obtain a student loan if they don't have anybody to cosign it?

Go to the student financial aid office at your school. They should know.

From where can somewhere obtain a student loan if they don't have anybody to cosign it?

you don't have to have a co-signer. Fill out your FASFA. Wait for your results. They'll come back to you with what you qualify for. If in doubt, make an appointment with a financial aid counselor at your school. This is their job and they'll know what to do.

From where can somewhere obtain a student loan if they don't have anybody to cosign it?

Easy question that i can answer...at the college of your choice...They have finanical aid information in the COUNSELING OFFICE, or the ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICE....You do not need a CO-SIGNER??? SOMEONE gave you misinformation...sorry!!

From where can somewhere obtain a student loan if they don't have anybody to cosign it?

No co-signer needed. Go to your local college and ask about financial aid. Here is what you'll need:

A copy of your high school transcipt.

ID, such as a student ID, drivers license, or birth certificate

A copy of your 2005 tax return, if you did your taxes.

Colleges are more than happy to help you out. If you want to try this on your own on the computer, go to www.fafsa.ed.gov . You can fill it out there. If this is your first time, which I assume it is, fill out a normal fafsa. Most colleges offer grants a scholarships as well to help you with expenses. Good Luck! Try to go to the finacial aid office at your local college. That's your best bet!!!

From where can somewhere obtain a student loan if they don't have anybody to cosign it?

I don't think it's normal to have someone co-sign on a student loan. But any college or bank should be able to give you one. Depending on how bad your credit it, you may have to pay back with horrible interest rates.

Have you tried applying for financial aid? Even if you don't get the full amount for tuition you might get something.

Try going to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

You can also try looking up scholarships...

http://www.fastweb.com/

But definitely speak to someone in your school's financial aid department, they can give you pamphlets and information on different payment options.

From where can somewhere obtain a student loan if they don't have anybody to cosign it?

From where can somewhere obtain a student loan if they don't have anybody to cosign it?

From school..

Financial aid from your college does not require cosigning. Only for private loans that you need a cosigner.

I am looking for a private student loan but have bad credit and no co-signer. any suggestions?

I don't have financial aid. I lost it. So, going through Fafsa is a waste of time. My school won't give me any aid. Is there anywhere else I can get money to pay for my tution? Or anything else I can do?

I am looking for a private student loan but have bad credit and no co-signer. any suggestions?

There are tons of scholarships that go unclaimed each year. Many $400, $500 or $1000 scholarships never even get applied for because people think it's chump change and not worth applying for. Well, get a few of those $500 scholarships and it'll really make a dent in your tuition bill.

Do a search on scholarships, search your major, your ethnic heritage, your town, your parents employers, your employer, hobbies, high school, local chamber of commerce/rotary/ lion's club etc. Left-handed? There is a scholarship out there for you! Older woman returning to school? There are scholarships out there for you. Do combined searches on more than one criteria %26quot;hispanic women aviation scholarships%26quot; etc.

Go to the library and ask the reference librarian for a reference book on scholarships. They usually have more than one. There are all kinds of scholarships out there, you just have to start applying yourself and make it your summer career to send out letters everyday for scholarships. Good luck!

How can I pay for a "Student Loan" that is keeping me from continuing my education?!?

So here is the deal. I attended the University of Texas for 2 years when my husband (Marine) got stationed in San Diego right when the semester started. I tried to hang in there despite being away from my husbnand and living at home with my parents. Well, as you know I had to be with my husband because he was getting deployed and to make a long story short....I dropped my classes and came to SD with him. Now that I want to attend school in SD, The University of Texas says I owe them almost $2,000 and I would have to pay atleast half for the to release my transcript! I'm in limbo.....what should I do?

How can I get a scholarship if I'm not in school?

What is the best way to get back into school?

call them for your direct loan but you must apply for financial aid first

Where can i get a student loan without having a cosigner?

This is difficult to do I know i went through the same thing. First of all, did you fill out your FASFA? If so you should qualify for some Stafford loans which are government loans that are not based on credit. Second depending on your credit situation and your income you can look into alternative loans. Sallie Mae is a good lender to look into for this. If you do not have the credit to get a loan on your own you may have to wait until you can build your credit. For more information on credit look at the link below. For me I ended up joining the Army and that is what helped me out the most. Not saying that's what you will have to do but it is something to think about.

talk to your financial aide office at school to get more information they can help you out a lot. Also another alternative is to look at scholar ships.

Is it hard to get a student loan for college without any credit established?

First, of all, the GSL has been obsolete for years. It's now known as the Federal Stafford loan. All you need to do to apply for this type of Federal Student Aid is file your FAFSA (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov) and complete any other forms your school requires from you (you will also need to complete a Stafford Loan Promissory Note). It is important to note that these loans require no credit check (though the will appear on your credit report once you have borrowed it).

The same holds true for the Federal Perkins Loan, which would be awarded to you at your school's discretion based on your FAFSA results (Perkins loans are meant to be awarded to the school's neediest students; you can't get one if you show no need at all). Both of these loans are pretty good, considering they don't even *look* at your credit: Stafford interest rates (beginning with the 06-07 academic year) will be fixed at 6.8% and the Perkins rate has always been fixed at 5%.

Should you need additional funding, you will need to do one of the following:

(a) Have your parents borrow a Federal PLUS loan on your behalf. This loan would be in their name but you would be the recipient of the proceeds. This is usually the lowest-cost option, since it's the only other Federal Loan that most people are eligible for. PLUS loans do require a credit check. {Note: if you are a graduate student, you are now allowed to borrow PLUS for *yourself* beginning July 1, 2006.}

(b) Borrow a private loan with a co-signer who has good credit. Having a co-signer can help your interest rate substantially but still keeps you as the primary applicant for the loan (though your co-signer is still on the hook if you fail to make your payments on time).

(c) Look for a private loan that doesn't have very stringent credit criteria. There are a few out there, but keep in mind that they are much %26quot;higher risk%26quot; loans, so your interest rate won't be great. Consider looking for loans based on your job history, perhaps.

If you must borrow privately, begin by looking at finaid's list of popular private loan lenders, here: http://www.finaid.org/loans/privatestude... . Read their credit critera and pick the one that seems the best fit given your situation.

In the mean time, you are going go need to establish credit, and probably soon. Research the best ways to build credit, whether it be through a secured credit card (be careful to get one through a legitimate company), a small store credit line (Macy's for example), or a small bank loan. The longer you wait, the harder it will become.

Is it hard to get a student loan for college without any credit established?

Nope. pretty much anyone get a get a student loan.

Is it hard to get a student loan for college without any credit established?

This is one of those rare times that no credit is better than bad credit. GSL's or Guaranteed Student Loans are exactly that. Loans that are guaranteed by the the government. Lenders incur less risk because it is up to the federal government to recoup if you default.

Is it hard to get a student loan for college without any credit established?

It will be harder if you do not have someone with established credit to co-sign the form with you, but it is very possible. With having no credit it will be better than bad credit.

Should i take out a student loan and pay it back later, or try to work while i go to school?

This depends on the size of the loan, and your school work load.

I find student loans to be easy to deal with. If you are going to have debt, this is the best debt to have.

I recommend taking the loan and really focuesing on school and school related activities. This rounds out your future better then some type of meanial job that you would have.

Should i take out a student loan and pay it back later, or try to work while i go to school?

Work while you go to school. Just ask anyone who is out of school, even 10 years removed from school, paying back student loans are a major pain in the ***. ive heard so many stories and jokes about it. work as you go.

Government student loans are not credit based. You shouldn't have problems unless you are already in default on another student loan. Private student loans are partially credit based.

If you are getting a Private loan, then yes your credit does have to be in good order.

If you are getting a government loan, such as a Stafford Loan, or Perkins than no. They do not do credit checks. Parent Plus Loans do require credit checks though.

What website can I use to find out my total student loan debt between subsidized and unsubsidized lo

Are you still attending college? If so, your financial aid office should be able to provide you with that information.

If not, then you should be able to get your finformation here: http://www.nslds.ed.gov/nslds_SA

If that is still no help, contact the financial aid office of the last school you attended or contact your lender for more information.

Hope that helps!

Can you get turned down for a college (student) loan?

From a bank, or do they accept you with the obligation you pay back once graduating?

Can you get turned down for a college (student) loan?

you can get turned down

Can you get turned down for a college (student) loan?

Banks have no obligation to lend money to anyone. I think if I walked in asking for a loan, the alarm would go off and I'd be escorted out by the Elite Guard!

Can you get turned down for a college (student) loan?

most student loans have a grace period after graduating i think.

unless you have a ton of debt already you should be eligilble

Can you get turned down for a college (student) loan?

You can get turned down on a loan . You are not obligated to take anything. if approved and If you do accept it most have agreements where you start paying back the loan 6 months after graduating. When you talk to bank or financial aid ASK QUESTIONS and don't be afraid to. You are the one who will be in debt if not repaid. Listen and reads up on the loan that has been offered

Can you get turned down for a college (student) loan?

You can get turned down. Bad credit is one of the reasons. I would reccomend getting an undergraduate loan for adults, and for college students a federal stafford or graduate plus loan. Theyre the best. Good luck.

Can you get turned down for a college (student) loan?

It is possible to get turned down for loan..... But mostly if you have good credit and a steady source of income you should be fine...

Some but not all have the option of paying back after you graduate , if your going to a bank that doesn't have that option I suggest you try and find another bank to give you a loan with that option it really comes in handy !!

Can you get turned down for a college (student) loan?

A bank CAN turn you down. Only a percentage of their loans are suppose to be student loans. They could turn you down if you have maxed out your aid for your level in school. But the good news is this: You CAN still get financial aid thru your school or from places like Sallie Mae. Check the Fed gov student aid web site.

Can you get turned down for a college (student) loan?

When you take out a FEDERAL student loan like Stafford or Perkins (which you choose a bank to do), they do not do a credit check nor do they ask for a cosigner. The only way you'd be turned down was if you were defaulted on a previous student loan, weren't' meeting Satisfactory academic progress requirements (poor college GPA, too many attempted hours). Federal loans don't have to be paid upon until 6 months after you drop below half time or graduate and the interest rates are better than any private loan from a bank you'd get. Here is a good reference about student loans, including the different interest rates, max loan amounts you can borrow, and terms.

Good luck.
