I can tell you to stay far, far away from Sallie Mae. (Momma says) They are the devil!
My husband went to ITT and got his loans through Sallie Mae. Financial Aid told him his loans would be paid off in 10 years, but we're looking more at like 20 years. The interest rates go up all of the time, just because they feel like raising them. I shudder to think what they'd do if you had a late payment or something!

Well depending on the school they may have a finance office that could help. I attended ITT and when I signed up for school, I stopped by the finance office and signed paper work. That way if they had any questions I was already at the school and could just go by to answer anything. Check it out at your school.

Check with your school.

First, fill out the form on-line for FAFSA (Federal Aid for Student Admin.) You'll be able to apply for federal loans and grants, such as the Pell Grant, etc. some of which you won't have to repay. That's the best place to start. Make an appointment to see a Financial Aid Counselor at the school you wish to attend. They can guide you to private student aid programs and know which ones accept your particular school. I'll post the website for FAFSA below. Good luck and don't quite trying, a good education holds the key to a good paying future. Oh, and as far as the remark above about Federal Loans, you can consolidate with private lenders at lower fixed rates after you get the federal loan.
